Forgiveness
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there.”

“When the heart releases the past, the soul finds the door to freedom.”
There is often a moment when forgiveness becomes possible that is not about deciding to forgive. It is about understanding.
When you understand — really understand, not just intellectually but in your bones — why the person did what they did. When you see the fear, the wound, the limitation that drove them. When you see them not as a monster but as a damaged human being who caused damage.
This understanding does not excuse the harm. But it changes the nature of the resentment. It becomes harder to hate someone you understand. Not impossible — but harder.
Understanding is not the same as forgiving. But it is often the door through which forgiveness becomes possible.
