“The minute I heard my first love story I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was.”

“Love is the bridge between you and everything.”
Love that lasts is not love that never changes. It is love that keeps choosing.
The early feeling — the electricity, the certainty, the sense that this person is the answer to everything — that feeling is real, but it is not the foundation. It is the invitation. What you build on that invitation is what lasts.
Rumi's understanding of love is not romantic in the modern sense. It is demanding. It asks you to see the other person clearly — not as you wish them to be, but as they are. And to choose them anyway. And to keep choosing them, through the seasons when choosing is hard.
This is not a lesser love than the electric kind. It is a deeper one.
